About the Department

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established during the inception of the Institute in 2008. The Department has been actively engaged in sharpening the skills of the students and grooming them to become a budding engineers meeting the requirement of the growing Industries. The major areas of faculty expertise include Power System, Control System, Power electronics & Electrical Drives, Nonconventional Energy Sources & Energy Management. The department has a team of eminent members of faculty to contribute and promote quality research in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The B.E Electrical & Electronics Engineering programme is conducted as per the syllabus prescribed by Anna University, Chennai, which comprises of core courses, department elective courses, open electives, seminar, laboratory experiments and projects. The department also has a strong R&D base which helps the students bridging the gap between Industry and Academia.

1.Engineering Knowledge :
Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
2.Problem Analysis:
Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
3.Design/development of solutions:
Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations
4.Conduct investigations of complex problems:
Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
5.Modern tool usage:
Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
6.The engineer and society:
Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

On behalf of our students and faculty, it is my privilege to welcome all of you to the Department of Electrical Engineering at Kathir College of Engineering.
We take pride in our faculty, a team of highly capable and dedicated professionals, most of whom have academic and industrial experience and degrees from leading universities of India.
We provide ample opportunities to our students, activities through EBox Platform, workshops and seminars for further growth and development in their areas of expertise.
The Department imparts quality education in multiple disciplines of Electrical, Electronics, Control Systems, Renewable Energy Systems, etc. along with generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power and subjects specially focusing on the design and analysis of DC, AC and Special Electric Machines. The course curriculum combined with practicals, produce skilfully competent professionals to face the modern technological challenges.
The department library, air-conditioned seminar halls, Wi-Fi Enabled Campus, 24×7 usage of academic facilities, encouragement to appear for extra- and co-curricular activities and many other academic excellences will certainly pave a warm welcome to the hard working students in the field of electrical and electronics engineering.
