ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Manufacturing engineering is a branch of professional engineering that shares many common concepts and ideas with other fields of engineering such as mechanical, chemical, electrical, and industrial engineering. Manufacturing engineering requires the ability to plan the practices of manufacturing; to research and to develop tools, processes, machines and equipment; and to integrate the facilities and systems for producing quality products with the optimum expenditure of capital. The Master of Engineering in Manufacturing Engineering program equips the students with the capabilities to design and operate traditional and additive manufacturing, experiment with different materials, use robots, and manage production for automotive, aerospace, machinery, household products, and other manufacturing industries.

The manufacturing engineer’s primary focus is to turn raw material into an updated or new product in the most effective, efficient & economic way possible. PG programme ME Manufacturing Engineering was started in the year of 2013 at KCE in order to provide the skill based education to our engineering aspirants.

HOD’S Message

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) at Kathir College of Engineering for a PG programme ME Manufacturing Engineering – motto of mastering our students with practice oriented learning through AI platform.

ME Manufacturing Engineering was started in the year 2013 with state-of-the-art infrastructure including well-developed laboratories for full-fledged workshops which can hone students’ knowledge and hands-on skills related to manufacturing. Students can learn modern software related to drafting, modelling and analysis, which are nowadays a prerequisite in industry through our CAD laboratory.

The department has well experienced faculty and staff members of proven ability and administrative skills. The department also takes up industrial consultancy works from various industries. Our objective is not to merely produce professionals capable of serving their own needs but endeavour to serve the society with great concern for human values.

I wish success to all students in your endeavour to join us on the journey of quality education & to have a great learning experience with our excellent, loving & caring team.
